Elder Nominations

According to Church of the Saviour’s bylaws, “the church will be governed by a plurality of elders.” We are asking you to help us identify men who meet the qualifications of an elder as described in I Timothy 3 and Titus 1 (see below).

Please know that qualified candidates will be vetted by a nominating committee comprised of elders and other congregants. This committee will then make recommendations to the Elder Board. Following consideration by the Board, candidates will be invited to participate in an eldership course. Those who complete the course and are willing and able to serve will be presented to the congregation for ratification at the annual meeting.

It is important to recognize that eldership is a calling and participation in the process does not guarantee that an individual will become an elder.

If you are a member of Church of the Saviour, we ask that you prayerfully:

• Obtain permission from a qualified candidate to recommend him to the nominating committee.
• Identify two (2) additional members who support your nomination.
• Complete the Elder Nomination Form and submit it by October 26, 2025.
  
  

Titus 1 says that an elder must, among other things:

• be above reproach, hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined, and
• not be arrogant, quick-tempered or a drunkard, violent or greedy for gain
  
  

An elder must also hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.
