Since 2016, Church of the Saviour has welcomed international students to the community through our annual free furniture sale on International Student Day. Our hope is that students continue to feel welcomed and find a community of friendship and support during their time here in the United States.

We know that choosing to study in the United States is a big decision, with many things to do in preparation. You might be wondering about how to get furniture and housewares for your new dorm or apartment, and we're here to help!
Welcome to the Neighborhood!
What is International Student Day? Every year on the last Saturday in August, we fill our gym with gently used items for a free furniture sale. We also provide student transportation to and from the event, a delicious brunch for you to meet Americans and other internationals, and then after you've made your selections, we deliver everything for you. We hope you feel at home in your new home!
Monthly Events
While International Student Day is our way to welcome you to the area, we hope the connection doesn't stop there! We host monthly events that celebrate our cultures and provide space for friendships to form and flourish. You're welcome to join our WhatsApp group to get updates about our future events.
Game Night

Our first gathering after International Student Day is a fun opportunity to connect with other internationals and American friends. We provide the transportation, the food, get-to-know-you games, a bit of global trivia, and a place to have conversations that dive deeper into culture and belonging.
Chai Night

As the days grow shorter and the nights long, October is a great time to get cozy and celebrate light and warmth with friends. We’ll enjoy South Asian culture together with curry, conversation, and of course - chai! Feel free to wear traditional dress!
Friendsgiving

Welcome to your first truly American holiday! We are thankful for one another, and for the beauty of our different cultures. You're invited to celebrate with us by bringing a dish to share from your own country for a "potluck" style meal if you'd like. We'll also take a moment to celebrate and encourage the upcoming December graduates!
COS Christmas Concert
Saturday, December 12
One of the most meaningful moments in the life of our church is to commemorate the coming of the Lord Jesus into the world at Christmas. We want to share the joy of this season with you! International students are warmly invited to participate in a fun "white elephant" gift exchange, enjoy a traditional holiday meal, and then experience a beautiful performance by our COS choir and musicians.

You don't have to go it alone.
Only 1 in 4 international students is invited into an American home during their time in the United States, and it shouldn't be that way! You are our neighbors, so consider this your invitation. If you need practical support such as rides or help navigating life in America, or if you want to explore the city or experience life like a local, reach out! Good relationships are so important when it comes to thriving in a new culture, and our lives are richly blessed by you, as well.

We are always looking for more from our COS family to join our team! There are many ways to serve in this ministry, from picking up students, to planning one of our events, to being a host family for outings or holiday meals.
