Jesus is Buried

When she poured this perfume on my body, she did it to prepare me for burial. – Matthew 26:12

There is a finality to burial that nothing else carries.
The last words have been spoken.
The tears have been cried.
The body — once warm, moving, alive — is now lowered into the earth.

It is awful.
And it is sacred.

At this station, we remember the moment Jesus was taken down from the cross and placed in the tomb.

His body prepared.
His limbs wrapped.
His lifeless frame laid in a dark, sealed place.

And He was remembered.
