Jesus is Condemned

Then Jesus said to the chief priests, the officers of the temple guard, and the elders, who had come for him, “Am I leading a rebellion, that you have come with swords and clubs? Every day I was with you in the temple courts, and you did not lay a hand on me. But this is your hour—when darkness reigns."  – Luke 22:52-53

Have you ever noticed how many of God's faithful servants have been imprisoned or condemned?

Joseph was sold and jailed. Daniel was thrown to the lions. Jeremiah was beaten and silenced. John the Baptist was beheaded. Paul and Silas were chained. The world’s judgment of righteousness is often upside down.

And here stands Jesus — holy, sinless, and blameless — condemned by men, betrayed by a friend, and handed over to a system that cared more about politics than truth. The religious leaders felt threatened. The Roman governor found no fault, but feared the crowd.

The public shouted for death.
This was not justice.
This was not right.
But it was sovereign.

Jesus stood silent before His accusers — not because He had no defense, but because He had a mission. The Judge of all the earth submitted Himself to a corrupt human court, so that sinners might be declared righteous in the sight of God.

He was not a victim of chaos, but the willing Lamb — taking the sentence we deserved, so we could receive mercy we could never earn.
